The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering established in the year of 2001 with an initial enrolment of 60 students, which was subsequently expanded to 120 by 2005-2006. This number further grew to 180 in 2016-17 and then to 240 in 2017-18. Starting from 2018-19, the intake capacity has been raised to 300 . Among our dedicated faculties, 42  of them hold Doctorate degrees, with the majority of 21 actively pursuing Ph.D. studies, and remaining  holding Masters Degree, ensures high-quality education. Consistently, we have been achieving a graduation rate of 90% annually.

Our overarching vision is to transform the department into a cutting-edge institution, recognized globally for excellence in Electronics and Communication Engineering education. We strive to establish a Center of Excellence that aligns with international standards, fostering innovation and producing industry-ready professionals.
The department offers the following courses,

• B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering
• M.E Applied Electronics
• M.E Communication and networking
• M.E VLSI Design

The Department is ISO 9001:2000 certified, NAAC and also NBA accredited. The Department has well experienced faculty of proven ability and diverse specialization. The department has research centre since 2015 approved by Anna University and also beyond syllabus lab facilities such as Robotics and MEMS. The Laboratories are well equipped with modern training facilities that cater to the requirements of the University and autonomous syllabus.

1. All our class rooms are facilitated with smart boards with internet
2. Department is equipped with two centre of excellence in areas of Robotics and MEMS

ECE Department is achieving university ranks every year and students get placed in core and IT companies like Microchip, Coromandel Electronics, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, CTS, Hexaware, IBM, IGATE, Tech Mahindra, Tata Communications, CANGO Networks Private limited etc. Students are performing well and scoring high marks in competitive exams such as GRE, TOEFL and IELTS. Our Students are actively participating in Smart India Hackathons, other inter college technical events and E-CELL where they have won awards.

DEPARTMENT VISION:

To develop, the department into a State of Art, with Centre of Excellence in Electronics and Communication Engineering Education, on par with global standards.

DEPARTMENT MISSION

• To provide education to students to enable them to compete internationally, produce creative solutions to the society's needs.
• To make them conscious to the universal moral values, adherent to the professional ethical values.
• To generate and disseminate knowledge and technologies essential to the local and global needs in the fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS):

  •  To prepare students for successful careers in industry that meet the needs of Indian and multinational companies.
  • To develop the ability among students to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to product design.
  • To provide opportunity for students to work as part of teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • To provide students with a sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to prepare them for graduate studies.
  • To promote student awareness of the life-long learning and to introduce them to professional ethics and codes of professional practice.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES(POs)

PO 01 Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO 02 Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO 03 Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO 04 Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO 05 Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations
PO 06 The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO 07 Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO 08 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO 09 Individual and Team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO 10 Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO 11 Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments
PO 12 Life-Long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
