IIChE has emerged out as an apex professional body in India for Chemical engineers. It has created a distinct profile of its own. It plays a proactive role to keep pace with the dynamic needs of the society. This professional body has 42 Regional centers and more than 165 Student Chapters. Meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, refresher courses, promotion of research, career planning for chemical engineering students are promoted by the Regional Centers. Student members, pursuing under-graduate degree courses in Chemical Engineering across the country, can join Student Chapters at their respective academic institutes. These student chapters function under their respective Regional Centers. At regular interval many technical activities could be conducted under this banner. This would empower the students for their ensuing professional life once they come out of their academic precincts. Cultural and sports events are also organized other than academic activities. Indian Chemical Engineer is a quarterly journal is published by Taylor and Francis, UK one of the leading platforms for scholarly journals. The Institute is also recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. Each year the Institute confers a large number of awards and prizes to honour eminence as well as to nurture young talents. The member of the Institute happens to get plenty of opportunities to share the platform with many well-known academics and establish professionals in their own field.
